 Organisational Profile
The Centre for eCommerce and Communications (CeCC) operates as a business unit of the University of Ballarat. Through education, training, research and consultancies CeCC promotes the advancement of electronic commerce, particularly in its practical application in regional and rural Australia.
CeCC has strong linkages with; the School of Business, the Centre for Regional Innovation and Competitiveness and with the Institute for Regional and Rural Research.

University of Ballarat
The University of Ballarat (UoB) is a regional university of international standing valuing effort and excellence, service to one another, service to our communities, promotion of diversity, purposeful change and learning throughout life. It is one of Australia's newest and most progressive universities, with a history of providing tertiary education and training reaching back more than 130 years. The University is pre-eminently a regional institution, with three major campuses in Ballarat and one each in Horsham, Stawell and Ararat. It also has a national and internatioal focus and is actively building extensive partnerships and strategic alliances beyond its immediate region. The University vision is to be held in the highest regard by our students, staff and the communities we serve for the responsive, relevant and rigorous character of all our engagements and endeavours.
School of Business
The School of Business has a distinguished history of scholarship, teaching and community engagement. It is proud of its rapidly developing research profile which supports its programs, and both leads and is responsive to, regional and national needs. The UoB School is a mid sized School but through its international networks operate and co-operate in Europe, Asia and North America. The School we hosts two Centres. The Centre for Regional Innovation and Competitiveness (CRIC) is a research centre with a strong focus on economic, business and community development and regional locations. The Centre for eCommerce and Communications (CeCC) is also located in the School and provides focused applied research and consultancy in the rapidly growing e-Business arena. Both these centres, and indeed research generally within the School, work alongside and support the main work of the School and has strong links with our academic and teaching programs.
Centre for Regional Innovation and Competitiveness
The Centre for Regional Innovation and Competitiveness (CRIC) is a research centre with a strong focus on economic, business and community development and regional locations. CRIC's mission is to explore the development of enterprise and business in a regional context, by working with public and private interests to influence measures that promote the growth and sustainability of regional Australia. Since 1998 members of CRIC have been engaged in a dedicated program of research around a number of themes: sustainable tourism; clustering; action research; enterprise development; connectivity and agricultural and horticultural business marketing.
Institute for Regional and Rural Research
The Institute for Regional and Rural Research (IRRR) leads and coordinates the activities of the University of Ballarat designated research centres which include the Centre for Regional Innovation and Competitiveness. The role of the IRRR is to provide strategic leadership to advance the University’s research activities and performance through: developing research programs that advance the economic, social and environmental wellbeing of regions; promoting research of national and international standing; building critical mass and expertise within the University; and fostering research into rural and regional issues.
