Centre Director: Helen Thompson

Helen is responsible for the achievement of all CeCC organisational objectives in respect of project management, client service, business development and financial management. Helen has extensive experience in the delivery and management of online service initiatives. She is engaged in research into the use of ICT as a mechanism for community development, and is involved in a range of activities where her personal and professional skills contribute to the economic and social development of regional and rural Victoria. Before commencing with the CeCC in 1999 Helen was employed as a Business Services Accountant and spent nearly ten years in the banking sector. She is currently completing a Doctorate of Business Administration at the University of Ballarat where she is investigating why some regional and rural communities thrive whilst others fail. More specifically she is examining the benefits that regional and rural communities can secure through community informatics initiatives.

Technical Manager: Andrew Macleod

Andrew has extensive experience in project planning and control and in the implementation of major information technology projects. With a strong understanding of eCommerce and portal technology and strategies, Andrew’s technical skills include web development and programming (PHP, XML/XSLT and JavaScript). Previous projects have ranged from database design and implementation to community portals and web pages. Andrew has worked extensively with regional and rural communities to implement effective web-based services. Andrew completed a Bachelor of Computing degree at the University of Ballarat followed by an Honours degree in Applied Science (Information Technology). Andrew has been with CeCC since 1999 and has been the technical manager for the past six years. Andrew achieved certification as a Zend Certified Engineer (ZCE) during 2006.

Web Developer: Craig Briody

Craig has expertise in programming, as well as the design, development and implementation of web-based and other information technology based projects. He also has significant experience in the development and delivery of comprehensive client training programs. Craig completed a Bachelor of Computing degree at the University of Ballarat and had two years practical experience as a technical officer with a Melbourne based software house prior his joining the Centre for eCommerce and Communications Team in 2002.


Programmer: Paul Feely

Paul has expertise in programming (PHP, XML/XSLT and JavaScript),database development (MySQL) and in web development. He completed his combined degree of a Bachelor of Computing and a Bachelor of Commerce at the University of Ballarat in 2001. He also completed his Honours in Computing during 2003 while working part-time at the Centre for eCommerce and Communications. Paul is now a full-time member of the CeCC team.


School of Business Website Coordinator: Kara Hodgson

Kara has over 10 years experience in administration at the University of Ballarat and was recruited by CeCC in 2005 to assist with the development and ongoing maintenance of the School of Business website. She has qualifications in administration and has worked in various roles within the School of Business. Kara is now a part-time member of the CeCC team.

Marketing Consultant: Rebecca Lubeek

Rebecca joined CeCC on a part-time basis during 2006 to assist in developing a marketing plan and new communication materials for the Centre. Rebecca has extensive experience in marketing including, strategy development, communications and promotions, product development, international marketing and market research. Rebecca completed a Bachelor of Management with a major in marketing at the University of Ballarat in 1998. Prior to joining CeCC Rebecca has gained her experience working in both domestic and international marketing and sales roles with local Ballarat companies

Project Officer: Taryn Davies

Taryn enjoys a diverse role with CeCC, supporting event management and other activities stemming from the Ballarat ICT cluster project. Taryn has a strong background in administration where she has undertaken many diverse roles throughout recent years. Taryn recently completed a Bachelor of Business degree, majoring in Tourism with her strengths lying particularly in Events and Marketing.

Web Developer: Scott Limmer

Scott joined the CeCC development team on a part-time basis in January 2008 to assist with the expanding programming and web development activities of the centre. Scott is currently completing his final year of a Bachelor of Information Technology at the University of Ballarat and has already introduced new multimedia and web2 technology skills to the CeCC team.
